Morning Head: Let the playoffs begin!

This is Danica Thrall. I don't know who she is, or what she does exactly, I just know that in this picture her right breast is trying to escape the confines of that tank top. Damn tank tops. Actually, I did some research: she's one of those British topless models who used to be a phone sex operator. That just smashed every myth you've ever heard about phone sex girls.

The NHL Playoffs are set, and the Red Wings very nearly had a major role in some final day drama, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks and putting them on the brink of elmination, but the Dallas Stars found a way to blow it against the Minnesota Wild. But things worked out well for the Wings in this. Not only did they bounce back with a big win over a team that needed the game much more than they did, but they also wind up opening the playoffs with the Coyotes. Now, don't get me wrong, this isn't going to be a walk-through, but there were three possible opponents I didn't want the Wings to see in the first round -- Anaheim, Nashville and Chicago -- and they avoided all three. That Vancouver/Chicago series could be interesting. (Puck Daddy)

Admit it, you thought his name was Charles. I did, and when I saw Charl Schwartzel on ESPN this morning, I assumed it was spelled wrong, adding to the story of the anonymous man who just won the biggest golf tournament in the world. But it is Charl, no es at the end, just Charl. And he's now the Masters champion. That makes 10 different winners in the last 10 major championships in golf, which is amazing. Of course, like any golf tournament, there were other big stories, like Rory McIlroy absolutely collapsing under the pressure of a Sunday lead in Augusta, Tiger Woods making a huge charge and forcing the leaders to do something to beat him, finally not beating himself, and the wives of Schwartzel and Adam Scott. Well done, gents. (ESPN)

So, now that the Tigers have lost their three opening series against the Yankees, Orioles and Royals, is it time to decide there are some serious, serious issues with this team? The pitching is brutally bad, the fielding is somehow worse, the hitting is terribly inconsistent -- read: mostly bad outside of Cabrera and Martinez -- and Jim Leyland's managerial decisions continue to baffle. Right now, this isn't a playoff team. Hell, this isn't even a top half of the AL Central team. (Freep)

But, rest easy, because Lynn Henning says no need to panic. (DetNews)

Carl Lewis is considering running for a Senate seat in New Jersey. If you don't think his potential opponent is already building a series of ads based on this, you're crazier than Carl Lewis. (NJ.com)

What? We haven't posted a Mumford & Sons video yet? Well, let's fix that:
