Morning Head: Could this be the end?

Diora Baird, who makes a brief cameo in this video. She's also wearing golf attire, which, well, I don't really want to say it, but it's our reality right now.

Game 4 is tonight, and a loss means the end of the Detroit Red Wings season. As Mitch Albom writes, yes, this feels exactly like last year. Although there's a little bit of extra sickness in knowing that this is happening all over again. I think the Wings will win tonight and at least send this series back to San Jose for Game 5. But I thought they should have won Game 3, too. I suppose when you've lost two games in OT and the other by a goal, a comeback is not outside of the realm of possibility. But that's what we thought last year, right? (Freep)

Of course, the really sad part of this is that we could be about to witness Nick Lidstrom's final game as a Red Wing, and even if they win, his last game in Detroit. It's one of those moments that Wings fans have been preparing for for years, but I don't know if we'll ever be truly prepared. It doesn't help that the Wings currently have one other defenseman that I trust with the puck in the defensive zone. (The Detroit Sports Site)

On a bright note, the Tigers won their third straight game Thursday afternoon, knocking off the Yankees. You'll never be able to properly explain to me how the Tigers can be swept by the Mariners at home and then a week later take three of four (and very nearly sweep) the Yankees. Then again, I think it was myself that said the Tigers would be consistently inconsistent this year, meaning that we shouldn't get too up or down based on their wild ups and downs. So far, I've failed miserably at taking my own advice. (DetNews)

The Canucks have take a 3-1 lead against the Nashville Predators in what had looked like the only second-round series that was going to be worth watching. On a side note: Ryan Kesler is from Michigan. When he becomes a UFA, he needs to be paid a lot of money to come home. (Kurtenblog)

Big college basketball news: Maryland coach Gary Williams is retiring to pursue other ventures. This is sure to cause a bit of a domino effect in college basketball, as I'm sure a fairly big name will take this job. Then a name you probably know will take his job, then a name you don't know will take that job. Then ... you get the point. (ESPN)

Al Qaeda admitted that Osama bin Laden was killed, and they did the same way any legitimate organization would: Using Internet message boards. So, basically, members of Al Qaeda had the death of their leader confirmed to them the same way I found out Aaron Lynch had committed to Notre Dame. Sounds about right. (Huffington Post)

If you watch one video today about Christian and Muslim relations, make sure it's this one. (Daily Show)
