Morning Head: Welcome back, Red Wings

In honor of Wrestlemania being last night, here's Stacy Keibler. I really don't need a reason to pull out the Stacy Keibler card, but I had one, and I'm using it.

What a weekend it was for the Detroit Red Wings. First, they came back from three goals down to earn an overtime win against the Nashville Predators, then they handled the Minnesota Wild Sunday in a 4-2 victory. The win over the Wild was nice to see because despite the fairly close score, it was a pretty dominant performance from the Wings against a team they should have been dominant against. And, it came a day after probably the biggest win of the season. The Nashville comeback was huge for this team, which has struggled with the Predators all season. Doing it without Pavel Datsyuk in the lineup, and in Nashville only made it that much more sweet. The Predators could very well be the Wings first-round opponent, and they still scare the shit out of me. But games like that could have a big impact on that series, as Nashville is still a young team. (Freep)

The Tigers were able to avoid a sweep Sunday, as they hit their way to a 10-7 win against the Yankees. I was half asleep for most of the game, so pretty much all I heard was Mario Impemba screaming, "that's way back and gone!" It was good to see the Tigers crushing the ball against a pretty good pitcher in Phil Hughes. I'm going to hold off judgment on the pitching staff, however, until they play a team that's not the Yankees in a stadium that doesn't have a little league fence in right field. (DetNews)

OK, yes, I did watch an entire women's basketball game last night. I know, I know, friends don't let friends watch women's basketball. And believe me, there were signs during the game that I shouldn't have been watching, but all in all, it was pretty entertaining to watch Notre Dame upend UConn and advance to the national title game. As good as Maya Moore was -- and believe me, Doris Burke made sure we all knew just how good Moore was, as if our eyes weren't telling us -- Notre Dame just looked better for most of the night. It was kind of strange to watch, actually. The title game that none of you (except D) will watch, is Tuesday night. (South Bend Tribune)

The men's title game is tonight, and features the two teams we all had getting here in the first place -- Butler and Connecticut. A lot of people are going to focus on the Butler side of this story, and rightly so. The Bulldogs are back in the title game for the second straight year, and this year, did it at odds that were somehow longer than last year's. They not only came in as an eight seed, but they also lost their best player to the NBA Lottery -- sadly, the 9:23 p.m. start to tonight's game will preclude Gordon Hayward from watching, as it's way past his bedtime -- which is fine for a team like Kentucky or North Carolina or Duke to recover from, because they have a parade of All-Americans walking onto campus every year. But at Butler, you don't get many lottery picks. All this is great, but I'd like to focus on UConn for two reasons: 1. Notre Dame swept the season series with the Huskies; 2. The second Notre Dame win came at UConn with Ben Hansbrough fouled out for the final 8 minutes. (Indy Star)

Charlie Sheen apparently did the opposite of winning this weekend in his "Torpedo of Truth" show in Detroit. So then he went to Chicago and bashed Detroit. Of course, the people of Chicago ate it up. One more reason to hate the Blackhawks. But seriously, why are you paying money to go watch Charlie Sheen's one-man show? His only discernible talent is being Emilio Esteves' half brother. (Freep)

Barack Obama stunned everyone this morning by announcing he would be running for re-elction. With such a strong field of GOP opposition, I just don't see why Obama would open himself to the chance of defeat. (Washington Post)
