I did not wake up to watch the Royal Wedding, mainly because I have testicles. But also because by waking up before dawn, I would have jeopardized my ability to be at full strength tonight. Game 1 tonight, bitches. I feel really, really good about this series and the Red Wings' all-around playoff chances. I'm picking the Wings in six games in this series, but wouldn't be surprised if they closed it out earlier. I'm serious. I think we have a hot and motivated Red Wings team, which might be the most dangerous thing in professional sports. (Winging it in Motown)
While waiting for the game today, go ahead and read this article about how the rest of the NHL feels about Pavel Datsyuk. Hint: They all realize he's good. (SI.com)
The Detroit Lions had Nick Fairley fall into their lap last night -- thanks to Tennessee's insistence on drafting a quarterback who can't complete 55% of his passes in the Pac-10 -- and they didn't pass up the opportunity to put together what could end up being the most dominating pair of defensive tackles this generation has ever seen. I'm not even exaggerating. Ndamukong Suh and Fairley were the two most dominant defensive players in college football the past two years. Now they're the first two people opposing offenses have to contain if they're going to gain any yards against the Lions. That's awesome. (Freep)
Cam Newton went No. 1, of course, and there were some surprises -- Christian Ponder? Really? -- but the moment of the first round had to be Mark Ingram's interview with Suzy Kolber after he was picked by the New Orleans Saints. Then Reggie Bush tweeted this, and Twitter exploded. (Kegs 'n' Eggs)
I don't normally link to super local stuff, but the story of the Port Huron Predators is abso-fucking-lutely amazing. (Times Herald)
The Tigers were just swept by the goddamn Mariners. The goddamn, fucking last-place Mariners. I'm thisclose to completely skipping them in the Morning Head from now on. (DetNews)
The Lakers, Mavericks and Hawks advanced to the second round with wins last night. Yeah, that's all I got. (True Hoop)
The Office said goodbye to Steve Carrell last night. I didn't watch it because I was at work, but even if I was at home I would have opted for the draft or the NBA Playoffs. I'm not a hater, I'm just not a lover. (Time)
